Burger Index: The Stafford
Forget about foie gras. Knowing your burger onions is the sign of a true gourmet. However, finding a good burger is quite like finding a good woman. So complex, so illusive and so many variables that can go wrong. But when you find a goody…oh boy! This is the story of one man’s search for the best bit of pattie in town.
Currency: £19
Platform: A great big hunk of prime juicy meat cooked to perfection
Spread: Soggy and bland – a disaster!
Commodities: Standard issue mustard, mayo and ketchup. Good homemade tomato relish
Derivatives: Frozen French fries. Slice of gruyere cheese
Analysis: The American bar burger has almost legendary status. If we were scoring for the meat alone this would be 10/10. But at £19 a poor, commercial bun and bought in fries just doesn’t cut the mustard!
Forcast: 6.5/10
